Dr. Denise Watts, Superintendent: Back to School Message

Dr. Denise Watts:  Welcome to a brand new school year! The first day of school always brings an energy that’s hard to describe, but this year, it’s extra special. I am thrilled to welcome each and every one of you back for what promises to be a year full of learning, laughter, growth, and belonging. Whether you're stepping into our schools for the first time or returning for another year, you are a valued and essential part of our community.

Here in our district, you belong. Our schools are more than buildings - they are spaces where every student, every educator, and every family member is seen, heard, and celebrated. We are committed to meeting the needs of the whole child and the whole community. This year, we’re continuing to build an environment where students and staff feel safe, supported, and inspired to be their very best.

Here are just a few things we're excited to share as we kick off the 2025–2026 school year:

Thanks to a new grant, we are offering Free Breakfast and Lunch for ALL Students this year!  No forms, no fuss…just healthy meals every day, available to every single student. Because when our students are nourished, they’re ready to learn!

For the first time ever at SCCPSS, we are offering a $500 Classroom Grant for Every Teacher!  We believe in investing in our educators. Each teacher will receive a $500 grant to bring creativity and innovation to their classrooms. Thank you for the love and dedication you pour into our students every day.

We want the first day to go as smoothly as possible! Lay out those outfits, charge those Chromebooks, and set those alarms now!  And be sure to double-check your transportation details!  Routes and times are posted on sccpss dot com.

And Remember Every Day Counts! Attendance matters!  Being present each day makes a difference. When students show up, they grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Let’s build strong habits from day one.  There are changes to our attendance regulations so check the code of conduct on our website.

This year, let’s lead with kindness, show up with purpose, and support one another every step of the way. Together, we’re creating a school system where every student and staff member knows they truly belong.  Here’s to an incredible year ahead! I look forward to seeing you all on the first day! Let’s start strong!
