Choice Program
Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts is the premiere Choice Program middle school focusing on the performance and visual arts. We proudly integrate the arts into every subject area through our STEAM initiative and our partnership with Arts Now. The program consists of stringent academic standards and high quality, professional performance. Garrison received the School of Excellence award in 2012, became a National Blue Ribbon School in September 2015, and in October 2016 & October 2019 Garrison was recognized by the Arts Now Network with their Exemplary School of Distinction Award.
In addition to their academic studies, students participate in a variety of courses in the fine and performing arts. Students receive individual and group instruction in specific majors: band, orchestra, piano, vocal music, dance, theatre, and visual arts. An emphasis is placed on fundamentals, theory, and student performance. Garrison provides high-level academic subjects to stimulate the students' abilities and creative growth. Garrison students are challenged throughout the curriculum, as well as in studios, workshops, and collaborative cross-disciplinary student projects. The enthusiasm of the students and the accolades received for their performance reflect the quality of the Garrison School for the Arts program.
